Welcome to the Club!

The University Film Organization (UFO) is a club dedicated to filmmaking and collaboration. Over the years UFO has produced an array of short films made by students. Don't have any experience in filmmaking? Not a Film and Television major? Not a problem!

All types of students with any level of experience are welcome to join, learn, and create. UFO officers will also host workshops that review the essential steps of filmmaking. These include but are not limited to screenwriting, producing, production, editing, sound, and more.

These workshops give members an idea of what to do when the time comes to make their own films. Everyone is encouraged to make projects on their own time which can be screened during club meetings.

Throughout the school year members will be given prompts and challenges to use as starting points for short films. There are also After-Club Mini Shorts where after every meeting members can go and make an improvised or pre-planned short film.

Every year during the Spring semester there are 2 big projects where members will pitch their films to be produced by the club. This leads to an event where everyone will watch their films on a big screen!

Day-to-day activities vary, but are always filled with lighthearted fun and the opportunity to get to work with and meet someone new. As seen in the attached photos a member recently won most Emmy Award predictions in the discord and got to take control of the club for a timed presentation.

So whether you want to learn about filmmaking, talk with others who share the passion, or see someone's Letter box get roasted by the club President, come to Room 221 in the Marshall building every Friday at 3:00PM!
